‘Comrade Leung Chun-ying’, who denies CCP membership, to lead Hong Kong after disputed election

Now, a closed-circle election among about only 1,200 Hong Kong elites, most with vast business and political interests in China, has resulted in a Beijing loyalist, widely suspected of being a secret member of the Chinese Communist Party, becoming chief executive for 7 million Hong Kong residents.

Leung Chun-ying, 57, was dogged throughout the election process by questions about his suspected membership in the Chinese Communist Party.

By law, the chief executive cannot be a member of any major political party, let alone the much-feared underground Chinese Communist Party in Hong Kong.

Leung denied the allegations but new signs contradicting his denials keep arising, even after his election win.
