China conducts ’emergency mobilization’ exercise along N. Korean border

The Chinese military unit designated to deal with any military contingency for North Korea conducted what the state-run CCTV called an “emergency mobilization exercise” near the border with North Korea.

No specific date of the drill was mentioned in the April 26 CCTV report, which only said it was conducted “recently.”

The timing is significant, however, because western intelligence and press have been reporting indications of an imminent nuclear test.

While China officially opposes North Korea’s nuclear program, it also opposes any intervention in North Korea by the U.S. or South Korea in case of a destabilizing situation or collapse of the North Korean regime.
