SEOUL — North Korea and China have signed a formal agreement on building a high-speed railroad linking the Chinese border with the North’s capital Pyongyang and the southern city of Kaesong, a source said.

The deal sheds light on China-North Korean ties following the purge and execution of Kim Jong-Un’s uncle Jang Song-Thaek in December.
A Unification Ministry official said the South Korean government has also obtained a copy of the high-speed railway agreement.
