Bennett: For the West Bank, the choice is clear: It’s either Israel or ISIL

Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL) would quickly move in to fill the void if Israel vacated any area of the West Bank, Israel’s education minister said on Nov. 16.

“Either you will be here, or ISIL will be here,” Naftali Bennett said in a speech at Ariel University in the West Bank’s Samaria region.

“We need to stop explaining away terrorism,” said Bennett, who added that those who look for the causes behind terrorism are in a de-facto way justifying it.

Bennett commented that the establishment of a Palestinian state would not end the threat of Palestinian terrorism.

“Palestinians do not engage in terrorism because they have lost hope, but because they have hope, they are hoping for a Palestinian state. It is a central part of their multi-stage plan.”

“A Palestinian state in Samaria is a strategic mistake that must be uprooted,” he said.

“The Likud under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s leadership supports a Palestinian state, as does [Yisrael Beytenu head Avigdor] Lieberman. [Yesh Atid party head] Yair Lapid supports the Saudi Initiative.

“They are leading the state of Israel and the world in general astray.”
