LONDON — A Western energy contractor plans to intensify exploration
in Morocco over the next year.

Polarcus Samur commences a 3D seismic survey off the coast of Morocco for Tangiers Petroleum.

Australia’s Tangiers Petroleum was preparing to explore a 670 kilometer block off the coast of Morocco in 2012.

Tangiers has completed a three-dimensional seismic survey at the offshore block of Tarfaya and was conducting analysis in the shallower waters of the Mediterranean.

“We’re probably looking at two wells and some seismic in Morocco,”
Tangiers chairman Mark Ceglinski said.

“The wells are relatively cheap for offshore wells at $25 million per well so we’re looking at about a $60 million commitment there.”

In a briefing to investors on May 16, Ceglinski said Tangiers was
considering exploration partnerships with other companies and governments. He said an agreement was expected to be announced as early as November.
