CAIRO — An Australian contractor has entered the energy exploration
market in Morocco.

Pura Vida Energy, based in Perth, has become the latest contractor to
search for crude oil and natural gas in Morocco. Pura has acquired a 75
percent stake in the Mazagan block in the Atlantic Ocean.

The Australian firm has also become operator of the Mazagan block,
located off the coast of Essaouira, Morocco. The block encompasses 11,000
square kilometers and neighbors an onshore area held by Kosmos Energy.

Executives said Pura has surveilled more than 3,500 square kilometers of
Mazagan. They identified the main prospect as Toubkal, a deepwater area
located 100 kilometers offshore.
