Ansar Beit Maqdis said it killed an American who worked for the U.S. oil contractor Apache Corp. The victim was identified as William Henderson, 58, said to have resided in Texas.

In a message on late Nov. 30, Ansar did not say when or how Henderson was killed. But the message contained pictures of passports and identification cards in Henderson’s name.

In August 2014, Apache, one of the biggest foreign energy contractors in Egypt, said a supervisor had been killed when assailants seized his car in the Western Desert. Apache did not identify its employee.
