Officials said Yemeni security forces stopped a car bombing of the LNG
export terminal in Balhaf on June 2. They said the car exploded prematurely
outside the $4.5 billion facility and killed the suspected suicide attacker.

The attack was attributed to Al Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula, which
threatened operations against the United States.

Officials said a suspected AQAP squad also attacked a nearby gas pumping station in the southern province of Shabwa. No casualties or damage was reported.

Officials said AQAP, in cooperation with local tribes, has renewed
operations throughout eastern and southern Yemen. They said key targets
included energy facilities such as crude oil and gas pipelines.
