Al Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula said two bombs were detonated outside the U.S. embassy in Sanaa. AQAP said the attack at the entrance of the embassy took place on late Nov. 27.

In a message on Twitter, AQAP provided few details of the purported attack. Neither Yemen nor the United States confirmed the Al Qaida claim.

AQAP has targeted the U.S. presence in Yemen amid a surge of air strikes on the Sunni force.

In early November, Al Qaida said it had planted two bombs meant to kill U.S. ambassador Matthew Tueller after his meeting with Yemeni President Abbed Rabbo Mansour Hadi on Sept. 8. The bombs were said to have been found and neutralized.
