The rebel National Transitional Council has relayed assurances to a range of contractors that work in Libya's energy sector. The council said it would not cancel contracts with China and Russia, the leading allies of the former regime of Col. Moammar Gadhafi.

"All lawful contracts will be honored," Ahmed Jehani, responsible for NTC's reconstruction, said. "There's no question of revoking any contract."
