500,000 Bedouins filling the vacuum of Egyptian power in the Sinai
CAIRO — Egypt's Bedouin minority has imposed its rule on most of the Sinai Peninsula.
Security sources acknowledged that Egypt's military and police remain without significant authority in Sinai in wake of the ouster of President Hosni Mubarak. They said Sinai remains low on the agenda of the new military regime that replaced Mubarak in February.
