Amtrak increased security after report Al Qaida plotted derailment
The head of Amtrak security confirmed during a Senate hearing last week that documents recovered from the raid on Osama bin Laden's compound in Pakistan revealed that the terrorist group planned to attack U.S. trains through derailments.
"There is an emerging threat to rail in this country that was recently highlighted by information obtained from the Osama bin Laden compound," said John O'Connor, chief of Amtrak's police.
