Al Qaida operatives in Egypt have surfaced and are launching attacks
CAIRO — Al Qaida-aligned elements have emerged in Egypt in the wake of the ouster of President Hosni Mubarak.
Security sources acknowledged that Al Qaida-aligned operatives were attacking churches and Islamic shrines. The operatives, called Salafists and believed to be linked to insurgency groups, were already reported to have destroyed six shrines north of Cairo deemed anti-Muslim.
