Cable: Chavez stalled Spanish intel chief to help terrorists escape
A State Department cable made public recently reveals that the leftist government of Venezuela's Hugo Chavez helped Spanish terrorists.
According to the cable from September 2008, Chavez deliberately made the former director of Spain's National Intelligence Center, Jorge Dezcallar, wait in an antechamber near his presidential office in order to permit several members of the ETA terrorist group who were given safe haven in Venezuela to flee the country.
