Pro-China advocate appointed to top Pentagon post for China affairs
Drew Thompson, a close associate of pro-China advocate Charles Freeman, has been appointed the Pentagon's key official for managing China and Taiwan affairs.
Thompson, a former analyst at the Nixon Center, has a long association with Freeman. Thompson was rejected for a senior intelligence post in the Obama administration because of statements defending China's military crackdown on unarmed protesters in Beijing's Tiananmen Square in 1989.
