Seoul: North Korea diverting food to army, understating military spending by factor of 15
North Korea's actual defense budget is estimated to be 13 to 15 times greater than the amount the reclusive regime has announced, South Korea's state-run defense think tank says.
The North has said it spent $570 million on its military in 2009, $540 million in 2008, $510 million in 2007, $470 million in 2006 and $460 million in 2005.
