Lockheed-Martin delivers first F-16s to Morocco

WASHINGTON — Morocco has received its first F-16 multi-role fighter from the United States.

Morocco has acquired the first four of 24 F-16 Block 52+ aircraft from Lockheed Martin. L-M said the F-16 flew from its facility in Fort Worth, Texas to Morocco on Aug. 1. "An arrival ceremony will be held in Morocco later this week," L-M said.

In July, the U.S. Air Force reported imminent plans for the arrival of the F-16s to Morocco.

The United States has been training pilots of the Royal Moroccan Air Force to fly the F-16.

The U.S. Air Force as well as L-M plan to cooperate in training and logistics for Morocco's F-16 fleet over the next two years. Morocco has joined Egypt as the only African country with the F-16.
