A senior official said Baghdad would soon end its ban on crude oil exports from Kurdistan.

Iraqi Oil Minister Hussain Al Shahristani said the Kurdistan Regional Government could begin exporting oil in 2011.

"It is supposed to be resolved, and the region will start handing over the oil at the beginning of next year," Al Shahristani, who did not elaborate, said on Dec. 6.

In 2009, Iraq, saying KRG contracts were illegal, blocked Kurdish oil exports amid a dispute over the authority to develop and market energy.

Kurdistan plans to reach a crude oil output capacity of 150,000 barrels per day in 2011.
