Officials said that neither U.S. nor United Nations Security Council sanctions have reduced gasoline and other fuel imports by Iran.

They said Iran was importing 18 million liters of gasoline per day.

"So far no limitations have been imposed on the imports of gasoline, and the average daily imports of gasoline has stood at 18 million litres a day in the past three months," National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Co. director Farid Ameri said.

Ameri told Iran's official Mehr News Agency said U.S. threats have not stopped fuel suppliers from dealing with Teheran. Iran, with a shortage of refinery capacity, imports up to 40 percent of its gasoline and fuel requirements.
