ABU DHABI — A leading Western energy firm has invested in the
development of technology in Qatar.
ExxonMobil has invested more than 218 million Qatari riyal, or $60

The company's Doha-based subsidiary, ExxonMobil Research Qatar has
pledged to relay the investment to the state-operated Qatar Science and

"ExxonMobil is proud of its strategic partnership with the state of
Qatar,” ExxonMobil Research Qatar president Stephen Greenlee said on April
8.
"We are also proud to be working with Qatar Foundation and be an anchor
tenant at QSTP and to work together to build a world class center of science
and education."
Officials said one project funded by ExxonMobil would seek to identify
plants that could purify water extracted from crude oil and natural gas
wells.
A second project would examine carbonate reservoir rocks found in
Middle Eastern oil and gas fields.
