"The jet, as well as being an ambassador of death for the enemies of
humanity, has a main message of peace and friendship," Iranian President
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said.
In an address on Aug. 22, Ahmadinejad said Karar would deter Iran's
enemies throughout the region. The president said the UAV could be
programmed to target vital facilities of Iran's enemies that seek to attack
Teheran's nuclear program.
"The scope of Iran's reaction will include the entire the earth,"
Ahmadinejad said. "We also tell you — the West — that all options are on
the table."
Hours after Ahmadinejad's address, Iranian state television broadcast
footage of a flight of Karar. The television report said the platform could
be equipped with a range of weapons, including two 250-pound general-purpose
bombs or a 450-pound guided air-to-ground munition.
"The jet UAV enjoys abundant capabilities, including its long range and
operational depth," Defense Minister Ahmed Vahidi said.
This marked the latest UAV platform unveiled by Teheran. In 2009, the
Defense Ministry oversaw trials of a UAV equipped with bombs.
