Royal Dutch Shell is latest European firm to halt fuel sales to Iran
LONDON — A Western major has halted gasoline deliveries to Iran.
On March 10, Royal Dutch Shell reported the halt in gasoline sales to
Iran, Middle East Newsline reported. The company did not say why or when the sales ceased.
Industry sources said Shell has been one of several European companies
pressed to halt fuel exports to Iran.
They identified the other companies as
Glencore International, Trafigura and Vitol Holding, based in the
Netherlands and Switzerland.

The United States has been working with European Union states to impose
what could become a gasoline embargo on Iran in the wake of its refusal to halt
uranium enrichment.
The sources said EU states, particularly, Britain,
France and Germany, have pledged to cooperate.
Iran has been importing some
22 million liters of gasoline per day to meet domestic demand.
