Al Qaida gearing up for increased Iraq ops in 2011 as U.S. withdraws
BAGHDAD — The Al Qaida network in Iraq has launched an effort to intensify operations.
The U.S. military has determined that Al Qaida was accelerating recruitment and increasing operations in preparation for the withdrawal of the U.S. military at the end of 2011. The U.S. assessment envisioned Al Qaida efforts to stage nearly daily mass-casualty attacks throughout Iraq by the middle of next year.
