U.S. intelligence penetrated most secret branch of Russian SVR
A Russian newspaper disclosed last week that Western intelligence agencies scored a stunning intelligence coup by recruiting a colonel within the SVR intelligence service who operated for years and disclosed the identity of a network of deep cover illegals in the United States.
Kommersant reported Nov. 11 that "the Russian spy ring in the United States was blown by Colonel Scherbakov, until recently the head of the American Desk within Directorate C."
