Gulf states irrelevant to stopping Iran, despite billions in U.S. systems

WASHINGTON — U.S. plans to sell more than $120 billion of weapons to the Persian Gulf states despite knowing they would not play any role in deterring neighboring Iran, a report said. The Center for Strategic and International Studies has determined that the six Gulf Cooperation Council states, despite unprecedented weapons procurement plans, would be no match for Iran's military.
