Newly-Islamist Turkey government plans increase in defense spending
ANKARA — Turkey, which has shifted from its secularist moorings and is concerned it could be swept into a Middle East war, intends to increase defense spending over the next five years.
Officials said the government of Prime Minister Recep Erdogan and the General Staff have agreed in principle to raise the the defense budget.
