Egypt imposes Islam on its Christians while coping with mounting insurgency threats

CAIRO — The regime of President Hosni Mubarak has decided to confront the Coptic Church, the largest in Egypt. An Egyptian court has ordered Copts to allow divorcees to re-marry in the church. The regime has sought to portray this as President Mubarak's attempt to liberalize the Coptic Church.
