ANKARA — Al Qaida was said to have sustained an operational presence in central Turkey.
Officials said Turkey's intelligence agencies have detected scores of suspected Al Qaida agents in the central city of Konya. They said Konya, which hosts a major air force base, has been used by the Al Qaida network as a stronghold for the last six months.
