Gulf Arab alliance fears increased tension, arms race in Indian Ocean

ABU DHABI — The Gulf Cooperation Council has been concerned that the Indian Ocean could become the next arena of regional friction. GCC officials said Iran, deemed the leading threat of the Gulf Arab alliance, was expanding its naval presence to the Indian Ocean. They said GCC and other navies must join to confront both conventional and unconventional threats.
