Huawei blocked on Sprint deal as Pentagon stops monitoring such foreign tech bids
Concerns that China's network and cell phone equipment manufacturer will spy on U.S. communications prompted Sprint Nextel Corp. to exclude the Chinese telecom company, along with a second manufacturer, ZTE Corp. from selling cellular network equipment.
The deal, worth billions, was canceled amid objections from the Pentagon and U.S. intelligence agencies about Huawei's ties to the Chinese military.
