China blocks Gates visit after critical comments in Singapore
Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates voiced complaints that China's military is blocking improved relations with the Pentagon, despite calls for senior civilian leaders of both states to step up military exchanges.
China’s military prevented Gates from visiting China during his recent swing through Asia to attend a security conference in Singapore.
