Pentagon bought substandard Chinese magnesium imported without duties
The U.S. military unwittingly purchased substandard magnesium from China to manufacture anti-aircraft missile flares, according to a U.S. criminal case in New York.
A grand jury indictment handed up last week against six people and three companies said that the Pentagon had purchased the substandard magnesium but discovered the problem before the flares were put into service.
