Making nice with the 'Stonewall' homosexual lobby, unlike Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

President Obama on Monday celebrated the 1969 homosexual riots at a seedy Mafia-run bar known as the Stonewall Inn by repeatedly calling them “protests.” Only once, during his speech to the homosexuals and their supporters assembled in the White House East Room, did he refer to them accurately as the riots they were. Several police officers trying to enforce the law at the sleazy establishment were injured by violent homosexuals.
[During a 2007 appearance at Columbia University, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was asked about treatment of homosexuals in Iran and declared, “In Iran we don’t have homosexuals like in your country.” Official transcripts of his speech and the question-and-answer period distributed in Iran omitted these remarks.]
Ironically, homosexuals still celebrate their violent actions at the Stonewall Inn while demanding federal legislation protecting themselves from violent “hate crimes.”
Obama acknowledged the attendance at the event of homosexual Bishop Gene Robinson of the Episcopal Church, who abandoned his wife and children for the gay lifestyle. Obama called him a “special friend.”
Obama, whose childhood mentor, Frank Marshall Davis, was a bi-sexual drug-using communist, said that “…the riots at Stonewall gave way to protests, and protests gave way to a movement, and the movement gave way to a transformation that continues to this day.” Obama indirectly referred to the violence by saying that “a group of citizens — with few options, and fewer supporters — decided they’d had enough and refused to accept a policy of wanton discrimination.”
What they did was attack the police when officers conducted a lawful raid.
According to a pro-homosexual website, one of the victims of the homosexual riots was a police officer “treated at nearby Saint Vincent’s Hospital after being bitten on the right wrist by a Stonewall rebel.” One officer was beaten about the face by an “unknown object,” one was hit in the eye and injured, and another was shoved and kicked.
All of these incidents are recounted in the “Stonewall Riots Police Reports” and posted by the homosexuals themselves. They are proud of their riot.
One Democratic Party political organization is so proud of this history of violence that it calls itself “Stonewall Democrats.”
The police raided the bar because it was operated by the Mafia and illegally serving alcohol. It was a “Mafia-run, Christopher St. bar,” noted the New York Daily News. This information is easily ascertained through a basic Google search.
But Obama and his homosexual backers in and out of the media want to perpetuate the myth that Stonewall is a symbol of an unprovoked police attack on homosexuals, not a symbol of a sleazy lifestyle.
Here’s how Obama described it: “The police stormed the bar, which was known for being one of the few spots where it was safe to be gay in New York. Now, raids like this were entirely ordinary. Because it was considered obscene and illegal to be gay, no establishments for gays and lesbians could get licenses to operate. The nature of these businesses, combined with the vulnerability of the gay community itself, meant places like Stonewall, and the patrons inside, were often the victims of corruption and blackmail.”
Obama’s statement about the “nature of these businesses” was apparently a disguised reference to their ownership by the Mafia and the immoral activities that took place within them.
One witness to what happened reports that Police Department deputy inspector Seymour Pine had two stated reasons for the raid: “The Stonewall was selling liquor without a license, which it was, and it was being used by a Mafia blackmail ring that was setting up gay patrons who worked on Wall Street, which also seems likely.”
This witness, Lucian K. Truscott IV, who covered the riots for the left-wing Village Voice, added, “The owner of the Stonewall, Tony Lauria, was reputed to be a frontman for Matty Ianniello (known as ‘Matty the Horse’), a capo in the Genovese crime family who oversaw a string of clubs in the city. New York’s gay-bar scene at the time was a corrupt system apparently designed to benefit mobster owners, who served watered-down drinks at inflated prices, often made with ill-gotten liquor from truck hijackings.”
Five years ago Pine made a public appearance to discuss what happened. While apologizing for his role and admitting that the police were biased against gays, he said, “We weren’t concerned about gays. We were concerned about the Mafia.”
According to an account in The Villager, David Carter, author of Stonewall: The Riots That Sparked the Gay Revolution, said that the bar was opened by Tony “Fat Tony” Lauria, whose father was also a mob figure. “But the money from the club ultimately made its way into the pocket of Matty the Horse,” it said.
“Matty the Horse” was still in business until 2007 when he pleaded guilty to racketeering charges and served two years in prison. One report said that “…no man had more of an instrumental role in gay nightlife in New York City than Ianniello, and although straight he probably should receive an honorary plaque recognizing his achievements from the city’s Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce.”
But during his Monday speech Obama made no mention of this Mafia figure’s contribution to the “gay rights” movement.
In addition to commemorating the homosexual riots at Stonewall, Obama issued a June 1 proclamation declaring June to be “Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month.”
In the proclamation, Obama declared, “At the international level, I have joined efforts at the United Nations to decriminalize homosexuality around the world.”
However, there is no record of Obama bringing up the subject with officials in Iran, where homosexuality is criminalized and homosexuals have been executed. “There are criminal laws on the books in Iran that allows for people to be killed for being homosexual,” says Paula Ettelbrick, executive director of the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission. Iran is one of only five countries in the world that punish homosexuality with death.
In his Monday remarks to the homosexual “Pride Month” reception in the White House East Room, Obama said that he would move forward on the gay rights agenda, including putting open homosexuals into the U.S. military and repealing the Defense of Marriage Act. “I suspect that by the time this administration is over, I think you guys will have pretty good feelings about the Obama administration,” he told them.
Obama said nothing, however, about pressing Iran on its gay rights policies. But he did say that he and his wife Michelle had taken tests for HIV/AIDS.
