Dallas oil firm drilling for crude in the Holy Land
TEL AVIV — A U.S. company has progressed in its search for crude oil
in Israel.
The Dallas-based Zion Oil & Gas has been drilling a well as part of
efforts to test for crude oil reserves in Israel, Middle East Newsline reported.
The company, which shares
its revenue with Christian and Jewish charities, has reported reaching a
depth of 17,913 feet at the Ma’anit-Rehoboth-2 well.

"The drilling operations on our Ma'anit-Rehoboth-2 well are proceeding
as planned and are ahead of schedule," Zion chief executive officer Richard
Rinberg said.
The drilling was expected to be followed by a velocity survey and other
tests. Zion has been allowed to continue drilling Ma'anit until January
2009.
