Oman reports 3 new oil fields

ABU DHABI Ñ Oman has reported that the discovery of three oil fields will not immediately affect external production.

The state-owned Petroleum Development Oman reported three new oil fields amid an increase in crude oil production in 2008.

Two of the fields Ñ Taliah and Malaan West Ñ were located in northwest Oman and the third was in the southeast.

"We are not ramping up oil production, but gas production has increased for local consumption," PDO managing director John Malcolm said on Feb. 9.
