NICOSIA — Syria has reported energy cooperation with Iran, Venezuela and Malaysia.
Officials said Iran has helped establish major energy facilities,
including an oil refinery. They said Iran could also help develop Syria's
natural gas reserves, Middle East Newsline reported.

Energy Minister Sufian Alaw said Syria has signed an agreement with Iran, Malaysia and
Venezuela to establish the refinery. Syria, with production of 385,000
barrels per day, has reported oil reserves of 2.5 billion barrels.

"We have a wide cooperation with Iran in the fields of oil and gas, and
currently we are constructing an oil refinery in the district of Al Ferqles
in the Homs province with capacity of 140 million barrels annually," Alaw said on Monday.
