Yemen on the offensive against uprising by Iran-funded Shi'ite rebels
CAIRO — Despite Iran's pledges, the Shi'ite revolt continues in
northern Yemen.
Thousands of Shi'ite rebels are battling the Yemeni military in
the Saada province near the northern border with Saudi Arabia. The rebels
were said to be obtaining assistance and funding from Iran and Libya.
The Yemeni Army has intensified artillery attacks on suspected
rebel-held villages. On May 31, at least 15 people were killed in a Yemeni
strike on Souq Al Lail in Saada, Middle East Newsline reported.

addition to the casualties, 35 people were injured in Souq Al Lail.
Yemeni security sources said the military sought to prevent a rebel
capture of the gasoline station. The sources said the rebels were seeking
fuel supplies to facilitate their attacks.
Sanaa has blamed Iran and Libya for assisting and guiding the rebels.
Both countries have sought to reconcile with Yemen, but state-supported
