Kuwait to develop oil field in North, near Iraq border
ABU DHABI — Kuwait has reiterated its intention to develop oil
fields along the border with Iraq.
The state-owned Kuwait Petroleum Corp. plans to implement the
exploration and development of Kuwait's northern oil fields. The company's
new chief executive, Saad Al Shuwayib, said Project Kuwait stipulated the
exploration of four oil fields in the north.
"I will work to achieve many projects which are on the agenda of KPC's
board, among them the northern oil fields project," Al Shuwayib said.

Iraq has opposed Kuwaiti exploration along their joint border, Middle East Newsline reported. Baghdad
has resumed claims to border oil reserves, which marked a key source of
tension during the former Saddam Hussein regime.
