The state-owned Saudi Aramco has launched a program to drill more than 300 gas development wells in the kingdom. Executives said the program was meant to add 50 trillion cubic feet of gas over the next decade.

Aramco holds 248.5 trillion cubic feet of gas reserves. In 2006, the company discovered three new gas fields, including Karan, its largest offshore field. The Kassab field in the Eastern Province has reported an output of 10 million cubic feet of gas a day.
