ABU DHABI — Kuwait has announced the discovery of another "rich" oil reserve.

Kuwaiti Oil Minister Ali Al Jara Al Sabah said an oil field was discovered in the northern sheikdom near the Iraqi border.

Ali said the field, which he termed "rich," was located in Al Habi, south of Al Radhatain field.

In a statement on April 30, the minister said the field contained a huge amount of light oil and natural gas. He said this was the sixth field discovered in northern Kuwait.

"This will have great positive impact on the country's oil strategy, also aimed to develop gas production in the near future," Ali said.
