OMAN LAUNCHES SOHAR REFINERY
ABU DHABI — Oman has launched its Sohar oil refinery.
The sultanate began operations of the refinery and a polypropylene
facility at a ceremony on April 18 in Sohar. The two projects were said to
cost a total of $1.6 billion.
Officials said Sohar costs $1.3 billion and would refine 116,400 barrels
of oil per day. They said 80 percent of production was allocated for the
foreign market.
The refinery project was about a year behind schedule. Officials cited
technical delays.
