Libya awards oil deals to U.S., India, Japan firms

CAIRO — Libya has awarded licenses for energy development.
The state-owned National Oil Corp. has awarded crude oil and natural gas
licenses to ExxonMobil, India's ONGC Videsh and Japan's Inpex, Middle East Newsline reported. ExxonMobil
and ONGC won a single license each, while Inpex and Mitsui were awarded
three areas.
On Dec. 26, NOC awarded concessions on one offshore and two onshore
areas. Officials said ExxonMobil was awarded a 22.3 percent production share
in four wells in offshore area 20. ONGC took a 28 percent share in one
offshore well in area 43.
Inpex was granted a 12.9 percent share in three wells in area 113 in the
Murzuq basin.
