SPECIAL TO WORLD TRIBUNE.COM

Lev Navrozov emigrated from the Soviet Union in 1972 He settled in New York City where he quickly learned that there was no market for his eloquent and powerful English language attacks on the Soviet Union. To this day, he writes without fear or favor or the conventions of polite society. He chaired the "Alternative to the New York Times Committee" in 1980, challenged the editors of the New York Times to a debate (which they declined) and became a columnist for the New York City Tribune. His columns are today read in both English and Russian.

My readers know that the dictatorship of China has been developing (in cooperation with Putin’s Russia?) super weapons, able to annihilate the United States (and the entire West?) unless they surrender unconditionally (as did Japan in 1945, owing to the U.S. super weapon of the time, the atom bomb).

I receive e-mails from those of my readers who beg me to continue my efforts to wake up the West. Thus, on December 2:

Thanks for waking up this wife and mother of two. I can only imagine that sometimes you may think that you are not making a difference. You really are, so don’t stop! God Bless You and keep fighting the good fight. Kirsten Wilkerson, Cincinnati, Ohio

I will keep fighting the good fight. But what about the last two U.S. presidents?

Louis XIV, the king of France under absolutism, allegedly said: “The State [of France] is I.” Stalin could have said this even more justifiably with respect to Soviet Russia. Thus, Stalin realized that should Hitler invade and defeat his Russia, Stalin’s suicide would be for Stalin the best solution. In case of Hitler’s invasion of Stalin’s Russia, Hitler’s tanks could approach Leningrad via the Karelian Isthmus, which belonged to Finland, and take Leningrad. Whereupon, Hitler’s troops, which besieged Leningrad, could move to Moscow and help the German troops already there to take it.

If Hitler had taken both Moscow and Leningrad, his victory would have been assured. After unsuccessful attempts to persuade Finland to exchange the Isthmus for a much larger territory in Karelia, Stalin launched the war against Finland (despite the world public uproar!) and took the Isthmus within less than four months though the Finns resisted desperately.

Neither President Clinton (a Democrat) nor President Bush (a Republican) could or can say (thank God!): “The United States is I.” The unconditional surrender of the United States (or of the West as a whole) to China will not mean their death.

Since they did not, during their stay in office even mention publicly the super weapons, developed by the dictatorship of China, the latter will make them small local colonial officials.

Clinton and Bush are not the owners of the United States as Stalin was the owner of his Russia, but federal officials, each to serve for 4 or 8 years. Every year about 400 federal officials are sentenced by U.S. courts for abuses of their offices for their private purposes. Courts have no jurisdiction over a U.S. president. As for impeachment, the Senate acquitted Clinton because conviction requires two-thirds of the votes, but Democrats in the Senate refused to vote for the conviction of a Democrat. In general, quite a few U.S. Democrats and U.S. Republicans fight each other rather than the dictatorship of China. So the U.S. Democrat Clinton was not convicted.

Indeed, what did he do? In the New York Times, he was accused of taking money from the dictatorship of China for his second election campaign. Well, Mephistopheles sings in “Faust” that money is the real and only God of humankind. However, Faust sold his soul for sex. Clinton’s Oval Office sex made the White House ridiculous all over the world? Perjury? Obstruction of justice? What trifles! Clinton’s smile is still as cheerful as that of a circus clown.

President Bush did not contend Iraq for the same reason Stalin contended (and took) the Karelian Isthmus. The geostrategic value of Iraq has been zero. Its enticement was oil, that is, money, the real and only God of humankind, according to Faust. As I am writing this, the Bush rating has reached on Iraq a record low. But in case of impeachment, the Senate Republicans will no doubt vote for his acquittal as the Senate Democrats did for Clinton’s.

The U.S. Congress has never censored the U.S. presidents for their appeasement of the dictatorship of China—just as the British Parliament never censured Prime Minister Chamberlain for his “peace in our time” that would have led to Hitler’s ability to annihilate the rest of the world if he had invested his resources into his atom bomb project, and not into conventional war.

Members of Congress have recorded in the Congressional Record their speeches critical of the appeasement. But how many people read the Congressional Record? It is from the mainstream media that voters conclude whom they would vote for. The mainstream media have never conducted a campaign against the appeasement pursued by a U.S. president, or a member of Congress. Hence Congress has maintained appeasement—at least outside the Congressional Record.

In the 19th century, public opinion in the West rested on nationally or internationally known political thinkers who wrote books bought by their admirers as lovers of opera buy ticket to listen to their favorite singers. The prices of the books varied, and 100 copies could generate an income for the author as high as 10,000 copies.

In 1859, John Stuart Mill, an English political thinker, was horrified by the very fact of existence of newspapers. They reported news? But what is news? Another Englishman, Walter Duranty, who became the Moscow correspondent of the New York Times in the 1920s, reported life under Stalin as the most beneficial news in recorded history. The New York Times parted with his favorite only after Stalin had concluded a pact with Hitler. Unemployed, Duranty became destitute, but the editor-in-chief of the New York Times visited him as he might a great man who had become a victim of an unexpected historical cataclysm.

Today “serious books” are published for their political sensations or for the authors’ academic degrees and/or ranks, and the mainstream of information comes nowadays from the commercial mainstream media. Here a “host” can make millions of dollars as her or his permanent annual salary and hold with his or her chatter the attention of dozens of millions of listeners and viewers.

The commercial mainstream media are not commercially interested to have as their “host” John Dewey (an internationally known American thinker who died in 1952) and not a chatterbox. On the contrary, she may sell more goods and services than John Dewey.

Only e-mails from my readers show me that there are Americans who are horrified that the United States (and the West in general) might be annihilated unless they surrender unconditionally. Here the advantages of the Western constitutionalism become important. Such defenders of the constitutional West can be organized (we need organizers!) into a social force, making itself nationally or internationally audible and influencing the U.S. government, the U.S. Congress, and the mainstream media, with their academic and bureaucratic “guests.”
