Iran invites international bids for new reactors
NICOSIA — Iran has invited foreign firms to bid on the construction of two nuclear energy plants. Officials said the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization has contacted foreign companies to participate in a tender for two e facilities to be constructed in Bushehr in southern Iran, where an unfinished 1,500-megawatt nuclear facility is more than four years behind schedule.

Northern West Bank called out of control
RAMALLAH — The Palestinian Authority has failed in an operation to regain control over the northern West Bank. "The police have been facing large numbers of criminals who have more weapons than we do," an official said. Officials said a PA plan to bolster its police presence in northern West Bank cities have been opposed by Palestinian insurgency groups and organized crime.

Moroccan Al Qaida bombers wore explosives at all times
CAIRO — Morocco has tracked down additional suicide bombers from an Al Qaida network. Four would-be suicide bombers were killed during a raid by security forces in Casablanca. Officials said the raid on Tuesday took place in the city's Fida district, and both Al Qaida operatives had been carrying explosives.

Steny Hoyer meets in Cairo with Muslim Brotherhood leader
CAIRO — The United States has been quietly holding a dialogue with the banned Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. On April 5, U.S. House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer met a Brotherhood leader twice. One meeting was at Egypt's parliament, where the Brotherhood controls about 20 percent of the 454 seats, and the other was at the residence of the U.S. ambassador to Egypt, Francis Ricciardone.
