Chinese investments override U.S. sanctions: Sudan's oil export-flow as before

CAIRO — Major nvestments from Asia have helped Sudan sustain its oil exports despite U.S. sanctions.

Sudan has been exporting 425,000 barrels per day of crude oil and 30,000 tons per month of petroleum products.

Another 40,000 barrels of Al Fula crude oil per day has been produced by Sudan's Block 6, operated by China.

China has also helped operate and maintain Sudan's four oil refineries, with a total capacity of 142,000 barrels per day.

Officials said China, India and Malaysia continue to invest in Sudan's oil sector.

The officials said the exports were not hampered by U.S. sanctions imposed on Khartoum in 2007.
