WASHINGTON — Saudi Arabia has warned that a U.S. war with Iran would
triple the price of crude oil.
Saudi ambassador to Washington, Prince Turki Al Faisal, said a U.S.-Iran
war would block oil shipments from the Gulf. More than 20 percent of global
oil moves through the Straits of Hormuz.
"The conflict itself will shoot up the price of oil astronomically,"
Turki told a news conference on Tuesday. "The whole Gulf will become an
inferno of exploding fuel tanks and shot-up facilities."
Turki expressed opposition to a U.S. air strike to destroy Iran's
nuclear facilities. Iran holds 10 percent of known global oil reserves.
