Turkey weighs refinerey for imports from Iraq, Russia

ANKARA — Turkey plans a feasiblity study for the construction of an oil refinery in line with its hopes of becoming a regional energy hub.
The state-owned Turkish Petroleum Refineries Corp., or Tupras, intends
to study the feasibility of constructing a refinery in a project estimated
at $400 million.
In a Feb. 6 announcement, Tupras said the study would be a
key element in its 2006 budget, Middle East Newsline reported.
The proposed refinery would process oil imports from Turkey,
particularly from neighboring Iraq. Turkey has sought to serve as a hub for
both oil and natural gas.
Turkey receives oil from Iraq as well as Russia.
