Iran has pledged to supply 300 vehicles to the Palestinian
Authority.
Iranian state television said Teheran has promised to provide 300 light
and heavy vehicles to the PA. The television, in a report on May 12, said
the vehicles would be for civilian use, Middle East Newsline reported.
Officials said the vehicles would be employed by PA municipalities. They
said the Iranian donation came amid talks with visiting PA Transportation
Minister Ziyad Al Zaza.
The Iranian announcement was the latest aid pledged by Teheran to the PA
in wake of the Hamas takeover of the Palestinian government in April.
Teheran also pledged to provide at least $50 million to the PA.
It was not clear how Iran would transport the vehicles to the PA. The PA
does not have an operating airport and Israel was unlikely to allow the
vehicles to be transported through its territory.
