Iran announces major energy discovery

Iran officials have announced the discovery of two large oil and natural gas
reserves near the southeastern city of Ahvaz. They said the find was linked
to development of the South Pars oil field.
Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh identified the new oil field
as Ramin, Middle East Newsline reported. He said on Tuesday that Ramin contains an estimated reserves of 5.7
million barrels of crude and 36 billion cubic meters of recoverable gas.
Zanganeh said the new gas field contains an estimated 168 billion cubic
meters of recoverable gas. The field was said to be near the Balal offshore
oil field.
