Iran has forecast oil revenues of more than $35 billion
this year.
Iranian officials said oil revenues would exceed $35 billion by the end
of the Persian calendar year, which ends on March 20, 2005. They cited
skyrocketing prices that have exceeded $50 a barrel, Middle East Newsline reported.
"The maximum oil revenues were estimated at $16.5 billion in the
country`s yearly budget plan but the figures have been
increased two times," Farshid Simbor, a member of parliament's Energy
Committee, said.
Simbor said that up to $3 billion in oil revenues were allocated to
improving Iran's heavy industry, particularly in the automobile sector. He
also said the government would increase foreign aid, particularly to
neighboring Iraq.
